Oh, there’s no place like home to the holidays, but homes are often on the real estate market during this time. If you’re tempted to decorate to the holidays like you have during the past, you might want to rethink that will. By the very nature of the saying… decorate… a critical principle of good home staging have been violated. Remember… home staging is CERTAINLY NOT decorating.
So what are you to perform? Skip the holidays?? Well, not just, but you’re going to have to demonstrate a significant amount of constraint. You can still help your house be festive, but you will need to visit a few guidelines:
A festive wreath on the front door is fine, but no Christmas lights or wreaths divorce lawyers atlanta window. Keep the wreath to simple greenery and organic portions of the season like pine cones along with berries.
Instead of the typical poinsettia plant inside entryway, try a beautiful Christmas lily. Should your home’s color palette already has leaps of red, a red-streaked amaryllis might be festive and welcoming, but no-fail white work too.
Decorations in the main home should be limited as well. Feel greenery and organics. Showcase a beautiful stairway through an evergreen swag, but skip the Christmas tree this coming year.
If you can’t live without your sparkle and shimmer, a few well-placed silver or platinum candlesticks on the dining room table may have to do or purchase a few glistening baubles that complement your home’s color scheme. Again, don’t get carried away. Should your color palette includes blue, fill a huge, clear vase with blue and silver precious metal ornaments. A carefully crafted display for the mantel will let a beautiful fireplace are the star of the room without hanging any stockings with pride.
Confine interior holiday decorations to your entryway, the main living space, plus the dining room table. Again, think minimalist using your holiday additions. You will also need to keep your religious artifacts packed away this coming year.
Speaking from experience, your home certainly won’t feel like its holiday self the use of these guidelines. If you are accustomed to your dwelling dripping in holiday décor, these tips probably just annoy you. But one does have options.
If you already have your own home listed, ask your realtor to remove your own home from the market until after the 1st of the year. Many realtors only will amend/extend the contract. Likewise, don’t list your own home with a realtor until after the primary of January. Decorate until your cardiovascular is content, and enjoy one last holiday blowout at your residence.
Whether you refuse to accept your “restricted holiday decorating” premise or certainly not, at least be sure that your real estate property photos are taken BEFORE you put any holiday décor. Nothing says “stale listing” like seeing a photo of a living room with a Christmas tree in the heart of January.
A special note to builders and investors who may have had their properties professionally staged: resist the urge to call your own home Stager and ask for holiday décor to get added. I doubt that any Home Stager will usually add holiday décor, but you are going to be emphatically discouraged from this request and met with additional cost to the installation, the rental, and the timely removal in the décor.
Selling a home is tense enough without compounding those feelings using holidays that just feel wrong. Consequently, as the holidays draw near and you wish to be happy in a million approaches, for the holidays you may want to wait a bit to market your own home sweet home.
